In 1 Samuel 16, we read something really inspiring about the love of God. God had instructed Samuel to go to the house of Jesse and anoint one of his sons to be king of Israel. But Samuel was afraid. He said to the Lord, “If Saul hears it, he will kill me.” Saul was the king of Israel at the time, and Samuel was more afraid of King Saul than of God, because he knew that God was loving, merciful and kind. So, God said, “Okay, here’s what you’ll do: organise for a sacrifice and invite Jesse for the sacrifice, and if Saul hears about it, just tell him you came to sacrifice to the Lord.” Can you imagine that? There’re people who think it’s okay to be poor, and that the poorer you are, the closer you are to God. One can’t but wonder how they came to such a twisted and erroneous belief. God doesn’t want His children poor. The poor can’t help the poor, neither can the poor take the Gospel to the ends of the earth. Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me...the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works (John 14:10). The above affirmation by Jesus dissolves any doubt as to His oneness with the Father. He’s in the Father, and the Father is in Him. When He walked the earth, He was the living tabernacle of Almighty God. Wherever Jesus went, the Father went, because the totality of the Godhead dwelt in Him (Colossians 2:9). Now, think about the fact that as Jesus is, so are we in this world! Meaning that you’re God’s moving house; His living tabernacle; the fullness of the Godhead tabernacles in you. Someone asks, “How can that be?” It’s simple.
