I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills , from whence cometh my help. Psalm 121:1

Open Heaven 11 August 2018 Bible Reading: 2 Kings 6:25-27

25 There was a great famine in the city; the siege lasted so long that a donkey’s head sold for eighty shekels[a] of silver, and a quarter of a cab[b] of seed pods[c] for five shekels.[d]

26 As the king of Israel was passing by on the wall, a woman cried to him, “Help me, my lord the king!”
27 The king replied, “If the Lord does not help you, where can I get help for you? From the threshing floor? From the winepress?”

An African adage says that it is not wise to weep in the presence of a person who has no capacity to console you. It is a waste of time and energy to shed your tears at a place where they will not give  any help in your favour. The Holy Spirit provides direction to genuine seekers of true help on where to get help. In psalm 121:2, He says :

“My help cometh from the LORD, Who made heaven and earth.”

Those who have been seeking help where there is non will be wise to heed these words. Concerning such people, Isaiah 31:1 says:

“Woe to them that go down to Egypt for help; and stay on horses, and trust in chariots, because they are many; and in horsemen, because they are very strong; but they look not unto the Holy One of Israel, neither seek the Lord!”

There was once a serious famine in Samaria, such that women started killing their own children for food. As the king of Israel walked by on the wall of the city on a certain day, a woman saw him and cried out for help. The King’s response to her is a great lesson you must take to heart today. In Kings 6:26a, he said:

“… If the LORD do not help thee, whence shall I help thee?”

What an eternal truth this is! Beloved, in your Christian walk, you must develop to a point where you can say “My God is more than able to help me; if He will not help me, nobody else can.” This was the stand taken by the three Hebrew boys in Babylon. In Daniel 3:16b -18, they said to king Nebuchadnezzar:

“O Nebuchadnezzar, we are not careful to answer thee in this matter. If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and He will deliver us out of thine hand, O king. But if not, be it known unto thee, O King, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.”

You need to come to terms with two truths today. First and foremost, the Almighty God is the Help that is so very much present in time of need (Psalm 46:1). Secondly, if the Almighty God cannot help you in your adversity, no “mighty man” or devil can help you. When the Lord sees that you consider him to be your only source of help, He will arise for you speedily. I pray for you that the Almighty God will help you in the day of your adversity, and you shall not be ashamed in Jesus’ Name

I have decided to follow Jesus

Verse 1:
I have decided to follow Jesus;
I have decided to follow Jesus;
I have decided to follow Jesus;
No turning back, no turning back.
Verse 2:
Though none go with me,
I still will follow;
Though none go with me,
I still will follow;
Though none go with me,
I still will follow;
No turning back, no turning back.
Verse 3:
My cross I’ll carry, till I see Jesus;
My cross I’ll carry, till I see Jesus;
My cross I’ll carry, till I see Jesus;
No turning back, no turning back.
Verse 4:
The world behind me,
The cross before me;
The world behind me, the cross before me;
The world behind me,
The cross before me;
No turning back, no turning back.

And when we had sailed slowly many days, and scarce were come over against Cnidus, the wind not suffering us, we sailed under Crete, over against Salmone; 8. Now when much time was spent, and when sailing was now dangerous, because the fast was now already past, Paul admonished them, 10.
