MEMORISE: Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: Philippians 2:9

READ: Philippians 2:9-11

[9]Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:

[10]That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;

[11]And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

MESSAGE:

When you hear the name of a person or animal, what comes to your mind is the knowledge you have of the bearer of the name.

Hence, the name of a person carries the identity of the person. For instance, if you are in the midst of people and someone suddenly shouts snakel you would likely run.

Likewise, the name of Jesus carries a strong power and authority anywhere it is mentioned. This is why it is wrong to call the name in vain. If you are fond of shouting Jesus as an exclamation to trivial matters, you had better desist today.

The name Jesus can deliver in times of trouble. There is the story of a boy whose father was a top a cleric of another religion.

The boy met Christ and was devoted. Other members in their area saw him as a threat to them, so, they gave his father a charm that would harm the boy on answering his father’s summon.

One day, the father called the boy’s name and he answered yes sir’: immediately, huge stone rolled towards him with speed. The boy had no time to pray, all he did was shout Jesus and he was saved.

KEY POINT:
When in troubles, call on Jesus.

HYMN 1: ALL HAIL THE POWER OF JESUS’ NAME!

1.All hail the pow’r of Jesus’ name!
Let angels prostrate fall,
Bring forth the royal diadem,
And crown Him Lord of all.

2.Crown Him, ye martyrs of our God,
Who from His altar call;
Extol the stem of Jesse’s rod.
And crown Him Lord of all.

3.Ye chosen seed of Israel’s race.
A remnant weak and small,
Hail Him who saves you by His grace,
And crown Him Lord of all.

4.Ye Gentile sinners, ne’er forget
The wormwood and the gall;
Go, spread your trophies at His feet,
And crown Him Lord of all.

5.Let every kindred, every tribe,
On this terrestrial ball,
To Him all majesty ascribe,
And crown Him Lord of all.
