OPEN HEAVEN 19 JULY 2020 SUNDAY: KNOWLEDGE PUFFETH UP

OPEN HEAVEN 19 JULY 2020 MEMORIZE: And if any man think that he knoweth any thing, he knoweth nothing yet as he ought to know. 1 Corinthians 8:2
OPEN HEAVEN 19 JULY 2020 BIBLE READING JOHN 9:39-41
39 And Jesus said, For judgment I am come into this world, that they which see not might see; and that they which see might be made blind.
40 And some of the Pharisees which were with him heard these words, and said unto him, Are we blind also?
41 Jesus said unto them, If ye were blind, ye should have no sin: but now ye say, We see; therefore your sin remaineth.

OPEN HEAVEN 19 JULY 2020 MESSAGE
“Knowledge puffeth up, but charity edifieth. 1 Corinthians 8:1”
One of the biggest problems facing this generation is what is called I too know in Nigerian local parlance.
In the past, it was the University lecturers and professors who had this problem, but now that we have the internet, everyone feels very wise.
Knowledge is good, but you must be careful that it does not make you puffed up. When something is puffed up, it is difficult to get anything into it because it is already full of air.
One who feels he has a lot of knowledge may not be able to acquire more.
If you feel like you know all about computers for example, when someone comes to teach about them, you would have the tendency to ignore the fellow.
No matter how much knowledge you have, your disposition should still be that of someone who knows nothing.
Several times, I have been under ministrations where the fellow ministering did so from a Bible passage that I know well, yet I learnt something new from it.
A wise philosopher once said the only thing I know is that I know nothing. The phrase knowledge puffeth up means that the knowledgeable is often proud.
God hates pride. James 4:6 says that God resists the proud. To resist means to push against the enemy.
When someone is teaching, and you begin to correct the fellow in your heart, watch out: pride has set in. You are calling for God’s resistance.
Lastly, knowledge puffeth up can also mean that the knowledgeable is so swollen up, that he goes about boasting.
As we can see from Romans 1:22, some, in professing themselves to be wise, become fools.
There is no wisdom in being talkative. Wise people talk only when necessary. Get as much knowledge as you can, but never get puffed up.
Just like our memory verse for today says, no matter how much you know, never think that you know it all.

Matthew 13:25 READ: Acts 23:23-35 23 And he called unto him two centurions, saying, Make ready two hundred soldiers to go to Caesarea, and horsemen threescore and ten, and spearmen two hundred, at the third hour of the night; 24 And provide them beasts, that they may set Paul on, and bring him safe unto Felix the governor. 25 And he wrote a letter after this manner: 26 Claudius Lysias unto the most excellent governor Felix sendeth greeting. 27 This man was taken of the Jews, and should have been killed of them: then came I with an army, and rescued him, having understood that he was a Roman. 28 And when I would have known the cause wherefore they accused him, I brought him forth into their council: 29 Whom I perceived to be accused of questions of their law, but to have nothing laid to his charge worthy of death

2 JANUARY 2019 – A CHILD OF ISSACHAR? OPEN HEAVEN 2 JANUARY 2019

OPEN HEAVEN 2 JANUARY 2019 – A CHILD OF ISSACHAR? OPEN HEAVEN 2 JANUARY 2019 MEMORISE: And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life. 1 John 5:20 OPEN HEAVEN 2 JANUARY 2019 READ: 1 Chronicles 12:32 And of the children of Issachar, which were men that had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do; the heads of them were two hundred; and all their brethren were at their commandment. As we start another year, it is pertinent for us to have an understanding of the times we live in, in order for us to succeed. The good thing about understanding is that it belongs to God (Psalm 147:5). Today’s memory verse reveals that one of the reasons why the Lord Jesus Christ came to this world is to give us understanding.
